‘Tis the SEASON for holiday happenings at WKCTC!

2012 Nov/Dec Edition

Kick off the holiday season with the Second Annual Weekend of Art at the Clemens Center on the campus of West Kentucky Community and Technical College.  The weekend celebration begins on December 1 with the second annual Paducah School of Art (PSA) Holiday Art Sale. Do your holiday shopping at the two-day show and sale of ceramics, sculpture, paintings, drawings, jewelry, and photography by PSA students and faculty.

Hours for the show and sale are Saturday, December 1, from 10 AM to 6 PM and Sunday, December 2, from 11 AM to 3 PM. Immediately following the sale on December 2, ring in the season with WKCTC’s annual College Community Chorus Holiday Concert at 3 PM. The concert features a blend of traditional choral music and popular seasonal music. WKCTC music professor Norman F. Wurgler directs the WKCTC Community Chorus, which includes WKCTC faculty and staff, community members, and area students. James Patton will accompany the chorus for the program.  The audience is encouraged to join the chorus for a sing-a-long of holiday carols to get in the spirit of the season.

Plan ahead for 2013 and get your tickets for the performance of the Harlem Gospel Choir on Saturday, February 9 at 7:30 PM in the WKCTC Clemens Center.  From the heart of Harlem in New York City, the Harlem Gospel Choir travels the world as the ambassadors for African American culture. Sharing their joy and faith through music, they have become the country’s premier gospel choir. The Harlem Gospel Choir has performed for Nelson Mandela and Pope John Paul II. The choir has shared the stage with such legendary artists as Bono, Sinead O'Connor, Lyle Lovett, Diana Ross and many others. The choir has also been featured on a number of television shows, and in 2008, they performed for Pope Benedict XVI and 60,000 people at Yankee Stadium. The Harlem Gospel Choir’s songs of inspiration touch the depths of the soul and raise spirits to angelic heights. This is a musical experience not to be missed!
