Earlier this year the Paducah Symphony Orchestra (PSO) took on the daunting task of creating a children’s book entitled P is for PADUCAH. With the aid of a hard-working project committee, the creative contributions of some community copywriters, and the invaluable artistry of so many willing and talented local artists, P is for PADUCAH is now a real, live book.
“Our plan is to debut the book and the original art at the PSO’s concert on November 3,” said Juliette Grumley, chair of the book project. “The artwork will be displayed in the Carson Center lobby and offered in a silent auction that night. The auction will conclude at the end of intermission with winning bidders announced after the concert.” Any unsold pieces will be for sale at the Paducah Symphony office.
Proceeds from each transaction will be evenly shared between the artist and PSO. “The sale of books, priced at $20 each, will begin that evening as well,” Grumley added. In addition to the PSO office, books will also be available at BBQ & More, Choate’s Gifts, Hank Brothers Hardware (both locations), Roof Brothers, Simply B, Wagner Wine and Spirits, and the Yeiser Art Center. “We think this is a wonderful way to celebrate all the special things about our community and to raise much-needed funds for the Paducah Symphony Orchestra’s education and outreach projects,” Grumley commented. “And what a perfect gift this will be for children (of every age) everywhere to enjoy and to learn about our part of the world.”
